ICC Profiles and Color Management for Epson, Canon, & HP Printers What is an ICC profile? ICC profiles contain data that determines various color attributes from a device, in order to achieve accurate color reproduction. The data held in an ICC profile defines a mapping between the source (camera, image file) and the destination (monitor, printer).
Installation using Windows:
- A folder named 'Adobe ICC Profiles' should be next to the.zip file. I did find the Scribus page that links to the profiles from Adobe. The most useful one to you is the included CMYK profile, USWebCoatedSWOP.icc. It will give you slightly better RGB to CMYK conversions than FOGRA27L CMYK Coated Press.
- Installation using Mac OS: Double-click on the downloaded Zip file. The ICC Profile will be extracted in the same folder automatically. Move or copy and paste the extracted ICC profile (s) into the necessary folder below, dependent on your OS version. Mac OS X El Capitan – Go menu.hold down option key. 1. Extract the downloaded Zip file by right clicking the zip folder and selecting “extract all”.
2. Right-click on the unpacked ICC Profile and select 'Install Profile'. The installation will only take a few seconds. You can also install your profile manually by moving it to the proper folder listed below.

Windows 95, 98 - C:/windows/system/color

Installation using Mac OS:

Note for Macintosh / Safari Users: Downloading profiles using Safari may unzip the “*.zip” automatically and the file will get corrupt. You may turn off this function or select a different browser like Mozilla Firefox. To change the default settings of Safari open the Safari settings dialog (press cmd and comma on your keyboard while Safari is your target window) and deselect the settings for “Open safe files after downloading” at the bottom of the settings dialog.
